Cuxhavener Küstenheide

The Cuxhavener Küstenheide (meaning "coastal heathland") is a unique natural landscape that stretches from Duhnen to the small village of Oxstedt, thus comprising the biggest area of heathland on the northern German mainland. Heck cattle, European bison and wild horses have been resettled and they graze here, preserving the typical natural landscape of dwarf shrubs and grassland.

Wernerwald

You will find this unique coastal forest in the Sahlenburg district of Cuxhaven. But what makes it so special? It is the only forest by the German North Sea coast that directly borders on the Wadden Sea. Don't forget to visit the Finkenmoor, the small inland lake in the centre of the Wernerwald. There's also a children's adventure playground nearby.

Big Berta" – museum lighthouse

Take a look inside one of the region's oldest lighthouses, which operated from 25 November 1897 until 1 April 1983.

Fort Kugelbake

This 125 year-old coastal battery was used for defending the Elbe shipping lane. It is located in the Döse district of Cuxhaven, near the event venue

Ritzebüttel Castle

Some of this castle was built in the mid-14th century and it is situated in beautiful gardens.

„Winstärke 10“, wreck and fishing museum

The major maritime museum in Cuxhaven! "Windstärke 10" (Force 10) tells of dramatic maritime incidents and of hard work in deep-sea fishing, of wrecks and full nets, of people and ships.

Aeronautikum Nordholz

This is the official German maritime aircraft museum, where you can discover the history of airships and naval aeroplanes. On the 36,000 m² site, you'll find – among other things – 18 original aircraft from the German navy.

Climbing park in Sahlenburg:

Would you like to overcome your own fears and are looking for new challenges? Or do you simply want to enjoy the view over the Wadden Sea and experience the jittery feeling of being up high? Then you're in the right place at the climbing park in Sahlenburg. The activity takes place in line with the motto "find your limit", on 7 routes with 65 activities.

Duhnen adventure golf course

Adventure golf is a new form of the sport and is more varied than the traditional mini-golf. This game is played with golf clubs on grass tracks that are identical to nature and present a range of obstacles, and is also suitable for children. Covering an area of approximately 9,500 m2, the new Cuxhaven adventure golf course at the "Duhner Kreisel" play area offers fun for all the family on 18 tracks. In addition, there is a playground with areas to play in and play equipment for a range of ages.

Welcome on board and have fun on these exciting tours! Discover Cuxhaven in quite a different way and treat yourself to a trip on the bright red Cuxliner, a double-decker bus that goes "topless" if the weather's nice.
